RP Côte Vineyard Pinot Noir
Wine
By Farr RP Côte Vineyard Pinot Noir is named in recognition of the Farr family matriarch Robyn Pamela, a crucial pillar of the winery since its first vines.
The fruit draws from the Côte Vineyard in the Moorabool Valley, from high density plantings of Pinot Noir across exposed slopes (côtes). These hillsides are the decades long backbone of Farr winemaking.
The fruit is handpicked and sorted in the vineyard. Up to half is destemmed prior to cold soaking for several days.
Fermentation takes place in an open top fermenter with natural yeasts. The fermenting juice sees grape stomping, known as pigeage, 2-3 times a day depending on the amount of extraction required.
The wine is then aged for 18 months in half new Allier barrels. It is racked by gas twice, once after malolactic fermentation and once more just before bottling.
Deep crimson, By Farr RP Côte Vineyard Pinot Noir has abundant fruit flavours, a fine, detailed tannin structure and a long, smooth finish.
A beautifully perfumed Pinot Noir. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
